We have a wiki! the wiki, please dive in participate!
NOW with WHAT'S NEW! feature! Anything new or modified in the last 7 days is listed for you!

WHAT?!? Afraid? ok, I can understand that. Read THIS PAGE FIRST and see if this is something that can help you have fun, make fun, BE fun.

It gets worse; How about a wiki with no server? And I will GIVE YOU A COPY RIGHT NOW to modify and use in your own computer- with no server needed. It uses HTML, CSS, and javascript. Any modern browser will use it just fine. Turn some obvsolete hunk of junk into a fine personal Enotebook with it. USe it on a website to hand out books. Have fun.

Tinylist is written entirely* in python. (*except the installer script, a 'sh/bash' script). It includes it's very own web manager for list membership, you may care to take a look at it! (then come back here and read more...)

Many thanks to Sean 'Shelah' Perry for assisting on the installer script. BTW, it also CREATES YOUR FIRST LIST 'TESTLIST',so you can see it is REALLY working.) This script GREATLY simplifies the install process.

Also note we now offer a Wiki (named Piki), written in python, thanks to Mr Martin Pool, the author.

For that matter, we already have a HUGE number of persons using and enjoying Tinylist; you can EMAIL THEM ALL and see for yourself how they like it! Here are their email addresses!

TinyList is an EASY and FUN MLM, with MANY options. CHOICES is the watchword here.

LISTS
It would be an odd thing if we did not have some lists lying about the place, what with this being a list manager support site.

We have a few of intrest here for the snake charmer intrested in TL:

Feel free to visit THE WEB MANAGER and see what is currently available.

Also, Be advised ALL our lists are STRICTLY opt-in. This is POLICY here, and we STRONGLY encourage you to do likewise. This MAY soon become MANDATORY under LAW if certain bills are passed.

DOCUMENTATION
Here is a page about archives, how to make them, how to read them!

TLcron.doc A document explaining in detail about cron jobs and how we use them. Using crontab will use the crontab command, and that will (probably) dump you into the editor 'vi'. There is is good to learn how to use this powerful tool. THIS PAGE will show you how to do it.

TLlforward.doc is Tinylist's latest doc, and it will soon replace several documents.

QUICKSTART for eager beavers-read this to see how easy it really is to use!

TLwebmgr's README This one specializes in the web manager.

a href="TLreadme_1st.shtml">README.1st file which comes with TL. General overview.

PERMSSIONS And how to stay out of trouble with them.

What Is A List? New to lists, short on email stuff? Sure thing, read this one first.

JARGON - terms, jinks, retoric, jokes and funny phrases you REALLY ought to recognize.

Some people like to examine the LATEST version of the major file, TLpost.py, as we improve it, so here it is on the web. whenever we update the script, it is INSTANTLY updated on this page.

OTHER STUFF

Wikinehesa 1.4.0
Our very own wiki. Download wikinehesa.1.4.0.tar.gz now! 1.4 STABLE.

(1.5.0 is being tested and polished for yummy tasting goodness and creamy no-lump texture, but it works and is the working edition on this website. It HAS a few new improvements and minor modifications to improve performance, a few minor coding changes to refine operations, I think you'll like it! Try it out to see how you like it by clicking the entry point up by the top of the page.)

MyBlog
MyBlog.py - a simple weblog, a single script and a static (well, there is a single ssi include in it) html page.

The BLOG

The script itself

The source for the form page

NOTE these last 2 are links in the server to access the actual files in question. If I modify them, it wil instantly show up here.

RAT POISON
Don't you just LOVE spam? STOP CURSING. Well, how yould you like to mount a web page that poisons spam databases?

I see that I have your attention. spambots read webpages and harvest email addresses to send spam to. Well, let's reduce the value of them as much as possible with bad email addresses, shall we?

RatPoison- BOGUS email addresses to CRAM down a spambot webcrawler's throat as it goes looking around for addresses. This is the script feeding data to that page (referenced elsewhere on this site) to all the millions of satisfied users of this script suite. IT IS SPAMBOT BAIT, as that page plainly declares. This is usually called POISON; as a technique it is POISONING, or TAINTING THE WELL. LEt them eat themselves to economic death, says I, and a number of others.

You can examine a sample of it's output HERE You must Email me for a copy. This sort of thing seems to cause some considerable spectrum of opinion in the python community, from raving about it, to raving AT it- and me. I would have thought choking a spam artist's server to death would be a high art form, but go figure...

TEXT OUTPUT HIT COUNTER
ALSO, I wrote a simple TEXT COUNTER program in python which is doing the counting on this website.
counter.1.0.0.tar.gz

TEXT ROTATION ENGINE
OK, not a RANDOM rotation, a real no kidding in sequence rotation. You can plan out when banners show up in sequences so you don't see the same thing twice in a row. Not the same as a RANDOM rotation. wheel.1.0.0.tar.gz.
Here is A LINK to it to see how it works.

FORTUNE COOKIE ENGINE
A Cookie cutter a random quote engine in python!
Cookiecutter.py reads a specified file, selects ONE line (of any length) and returns that as it's output. You use it in a web page for random links, images, quotes, etc. You want to rotate your own banners? Here's the tool! The file it reads is a simple text file, and you can safely include html tags and not have any trouble.

YellCast™ workteam instant messaging system

This is a system which lets managers communicate with GROUPS, where they need to disseminate messages to everyone in a group NOW, not wait till they can read their mail. We anticipate it will work well in data entry shops, actuiarial calculation departments, data entry in general, and customer service departments, either inbound or outbound.

It uses port 80, normal http transferrs, a web server, the existing browser, and does not alter the application software. It also demands you have python installed in the computer the web server is in, and that the app is being accessed through a browser. it works in Linux OR windows. Email us if you want it, this is JUST NOW coming out.

HERE COMES SOME SSI!

ALL cgi imploys one or two SSI tags, and often several are used in combination with scripts to create PARTS of pages. If you want to go running scripts, you NEED to have at least passing familarity with SSI.

SSI is a powerful tool, and we use it in some of the pages here- it's a simple and powerful way to inject dynamic content into othwise static html pages!

SSI = 'Server Side Include', a really nifty way to add content to pages. Several pages here now sport a SSI feature, usually it is the LAST MODIFIED data from the webserver. This means you can look and see if these pages were updated (Of course, if you were to subscribe to the tinylist-users list, you'd know that already, 'cause we announce it there First {hint...}).

SSI has NOTHING to do with TinyList, but is is easy to do (compared to fully devloped CGI pages) and can be both intresting and fun. For instance, many pages here include some subtle SSI effects.

Here are some links to learn more about ssi:
apache ssi tutorial -WE like this one best, but then we use apache. ALL of them are worth reading.

Generalized SSI tutorial -ISeForSite's tutoral, a hosting firm that helps it's users

BigNosedBird's SSI tutorial -A real good resource for the budding webmaster, this place.

Apache's mod_include offers further insight into how to do ssi CORRECTLY.

And to learn about scripting for the web, try the SCRIPT SCHOOL!

OR

HOW TO USE YOUR CGI BIN! which is a nice introductory tutoral on cgi programming for the web, and how to employ pre written scripts like you see offered FREE all over the place.

Also, Clueless Lou's offers considerable clueatude for the clueless regarding cgi's many mysteries.

Now, SSI is parsed by the web server. It has to be told to do this. These resource links show you how. It's not hard.

you also may care to learn about Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Here's a nice tutorial. Learn to use CSS
